Pocket That!

Last time when I went dancing, (yeah, the same one where Veronika brought a funny date who danced like Anil Kapoor), I didn’t have to look for someone to hold my purse while I enjoyed a dance. Neither did I have to carry it throughout my evening, while it slid down my shoulder every time I changed my step. I just kept my cell and my wallet in my dress. And that too while I looked smashing (that’s what everyone said, I swear) in a fabulous dress. How did I do it? I wore a pocket dress.

You must have come across a few versions of this wonder while raiding the shops. Aren’t they just the cutest things? I feel they can make us look smart, chic, girly and yet keep us comfortable. We decided to explore the possibilities that pockets offer on dresses.

I wonder if you guys are aware but we are in the presence of a budding fashion designer. Yeah, Bella designs most of her own clothes. When we started on the pocket dresses, she couldn’t stop her creativity from getting the better of her. She just took some prettily embroidered, peach Hakoba cotton fabric and stitched a simple, sleeveless dress out of it. Of course, she added two little pockets and there you go. We teamed that with a pair of wedges and I spent a comfy day shopping.

Veronika hunted the malls and her sharp eyes narrowed in on a short, body hugging, Lycra cotton dress with a jazzy, geometric design, with wide straps covering the shoulders. Blending into the design were two pockets, adding to the smartness of the look. We paired that with an equally smart pair of pumps to complete the look. Since this dress is short, you could wear a pair of tights underneath in case you wanted to cover your legs. This is a nice dress for people with bigger size as well.

We started wondering how it would be to have pockets on a sophisticated party dress. Bella wracked her brains again and her light bulb blinked up once more. She just took some cream coloured linen fabric with some elegant black prints and created a sleeveless party dress. She added a net lining underneath so that the dress fanned out around the thighs. And how do you think it was different from any other party dress? She put the cutest little pockets on it. We jazzed that up with a black belt and sleek, black stilettos and voila! We were ready to bash.

Its amazing how many varieties of pockets you can show off on your dresses. They could be embroidered and prominent, or just sleek slits that only hint at the existence of a pouch underneath. They could be rounded, rectangular or square. They could be placed on the sides of the dress, or in the front. The possibilities are endless. So, if you are bored of wearing your jeans, but can’t do without them pockets, go get a pocket dress and dig in!

Quirks!

Sweet revenge…

Quirks

Tumbellina Bella

We girls often bond over out-of-control shopping sprees. If you find yourself in one such spree with Bella, don’t panic if turning around to show her your latest find, you happen to miss her. All you need to do in this situation is look down. Coz take it from us, she invariably must have fallen down. The woman’s vestibular sense is pretty skewed, much like her namesake from the Twilight series.

Last year when Bella fell from her Dio, we weren’t exactly all sympathies. Not only did she get to work from home for full two months, she even got to show off her limp with a cool ‘Saajan’ style Sanjay Dutt type crutch. However, then she slipped in her piggy-faced slippers. After seeing the broken piggy noses, we had to say, “Poor girl!”

Shovel Away!

Hi!

We just moved into the next block, I mean blog. Read us. We are starting something here with spanking new inspiration, with our lives as our muse. Evident from the title, there are three of us.

Why ‘3 of Spades’? Well, we wanted to be real suave and filmy and call ourselves ‘swords,’ but we thought why not be honest and call a spade a spade. When we spade up enough hard work out of our brains, we might earn the name, ‘swords’ one day. We’ve been calling ourselves creative for quite some time now. But now even our near and dear ones have started asking for proof. It’s a cruel world. So theme-less we start.

We are three friends – Jo, Bella and Veronika. We’ll be fusing our distinct styles on the same page. So you can look forward to Jo’s wit, Bella’s dreams and Veronika’s spunk. Sometimes, we might seem interchanged though.

This blog might not be different, but we are. We have fresh ideas and we’ve got variety. We don’t have a theme to base our articles on, we just ramble on what we like or dislike. Reviews of obscure and popular books and movies, funky and easy recipes, concise travelogues, you can look forward to these. However, if you come across unexpected stuff, enjoy that too. If it excites you, irritates you, drives you crazy or bores you, let us know. You are welcome.

Our first time is an example of what will come every fortnight. Jo read ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde and couldn’t stop raving. Bella finally watched ‘The Gladiator,’ and confessed it deserved applaud. And when Veronika’s date turned out to be a fiasco, she just had to crib. Apart from this, we have lots more.
So, enjoy!

No more ado
Shall we step in the flood and drown down
Till our heads full of fluid
We float up to the brim and spill over?

Hoping to hear a lot from you.
